Magnolia Annual Mardi Gras Parade and Festival, 8 th Annual

February 21-22 * Parade on Saturday

Theme : Magnolia's “Mardi Gras Masquerade”. The Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Eva Gordon complex. It will travel south on Hwy. 51 to Hwy 48, left at the Exxon, left on West RR, left at Magnolia Street, then back to Hwy. 51 and end at South Pike High School. Line up, 9a.  The 2009 Magnolia Mardi Gras will be held in downtown Magnolia. The bands are Static and Ghosttown followed by fireworks.

1-155 th Send-Off Parade

Location:  National Guard Armory on West St, down Delaware Ave to Broadway St. to Presley Blvd/Hwy 98E

 

The PCMSG is planning a send-off parade for the 1-155 th CAB. The parade will begin at the National Guard Armory on West Street and travel down Delaware to Broadway then to Presley Boulevard / HWY 98 East. “We hope that all businesses and homes along the parade route will have a sign or a ribbon to show their support of the troops,” said Bobby R. McDaniel, PCMSG chairman. McDaniel also said, “We encourage businesses along the parade route to allow their employees the time to come out and show their support to our troops as they depart on their mission to Iraq .” The PCMSG has received full support from the City of McComb . Businesses that choose to display a sign in front of their establishment will be exempt from the City sign ordinance.

This is a family event for all ages to raise awareness about the symptoms and risks for diabetes, and there will be a screening for anyone concerned that they may be living with diabetes.  While this event raises awareness for the 800,000 Mississippians at risk for diabetes, it is also a fundraiser to help support the many educational programs and services the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi  has in local communities.  Some of our main projects include:  Emergency Assistance for those without insurance, Scholarships for Children's Diabetes Camps (including our own!), educating over 2,000 teachers and staff members about diabetes per year, and funding research at UMMC.  We ask that each person raise $20 to donate as a Registration fee.  The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi is NOT affiliated with a national organization, so we need your help to keep these programs going! Walk with the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi  and others from around the state in memory of a loved one with diabetes and help raise awareness about this chronic disease.
